SAFE WORKING AT HEIGHT TRAINING

Definition and Legal Obligation

Working at Height Training is a mandatory Occupational Health and Safety (OHS) training provided to ensure that employees can work safely at a height above ground level (typically over 3 meters) or in any area with a risk of falling, aiming to prevent workplace accidents and fatalities.

  • Legislation: This training is a legal requirement in Turkey under the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment and related OHS legislation.

  • Target Audience: All employees performing assembly, disassembly, maintenance, repair, or cleaning work in high-risk locations such as scaffolding, ladders, platforms, roofs, towers, poles, or aerial work platforms must attend.

Training Duration and Content

The training is organized at different levels, including theoretical and practical components, depending on the nature of the work:

  1. Basic Working at Height Training:

    • Duration: 1 day / 8 Hours (Theory and practical application).

    • Content: Legal basis of working at height, environments with fall hazards, fall arrest and fall restraint systems, use, inspection, and maintenance of Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) (full-body harnesses, shock absorbers, lanyards, and anchors).

  2. Advanced Working at Height Training (Including Rescue):

    • Duration: 2 days / 16 Hours (In addition to basic training).

    • Content: Covers basic topics plus advanced technical skills such as station setup, rope descent techniques, suspension trauma, rescue procedures from height, and various knot-tying techniques.

Certification and Validity

  • Examination: At the end of the training, a theoretical and practical exam is conducted. Participants are generally required to score 70 or above on both exams to pass (with 100% success expected in practical application).

  • Certificate: Successful participants are issued a certificate approved by the training center (signed by an OHS Specialist), which is kept in the employees' personal files.

  • Validity Period: The Working at Height Training certificate is valid for 2 (two) years. At the end of this period, the training must be renewed (repeated) to refresh knowledge, skills, and incorporate new technological advancements.
