Boiler Operator Vocational Training and Certification
INDUSTRIAL BOILER OPERATOR TRAINING
Definition and Legal Basis
Boiler Operator Training (Kazancı Eğitimi) is provided to personnel responsible for operating, maintaining, and controlling industrial boilers such as steam boilers, hot water boilers, and thermal fluid heaters safely, efficiently, and in compliance with relevant regulations.
-
Legislation: In Turkey, such training is crucial under the Regulation on Health and Safety Conditions in the Use of Work Equipment and the Regulation on Vocational Training for Employees in Hazardous and Very Hazardous Works.
-
Authorized Bodies: Training is organized by professional chambers such as the Chamber of Mechanical Engineers (MMO) of the Union of Chambers of Turkish Engineers and Architects (TMMOB), and vocational training centers affiliated with the Ministry of National Education (MEB).
Training Duration and Content
The duration and content may vary depending on the organizing body and the type of boiler (Steam Boiler, Hot Water Boiler, etc.), but general standards are as follows:
-
Duration: Industrial Boiler Operator Training typically lasts 18 hours or longer, consisting of theoretical lectures and practical applications.
-
Core Content Topics:
-
Legal framework regarding Occupational Health and Safety (OHS).
-
Thermofynamic Basics: Temperature, heat, pressure, and steam properties.
-
Fuels, combustion principles, and combustion control systems (Burners).
-
Classification of boilers, main fittings, and auxiliary equipment.
-
Boiler operation, control systems, and feedwater preparation.
-
Boiler maintenance, troubleshooting, causes of explosions, and preventive measures.
-
Energy efficiency and environmental protection.
-
Certification Process
-
Examination: A written and/or practical examination is conducted at the end of the training.
-
Certificate: Successful participants are issued a "Industrial Boiler Operator Training Certificate of Attendance" by the organizing body (e.g., MMO).
-
Vocational Qualification: Since the "Boiler Attendant (Fireman)" profession falls under hazardous and very hazardous jobs, employees may also be required to obtain a Vocational Qualification Certificate (MYK Certificate) from organizations authorized by the Vocational Qualifications Authority (MYK). This training provides essential knowledge and competence for preparing for MYK exams.
