Overhead Bridge Crane Operator Certificate
OVERHEAD BRIDGE CRANE (LIFTING-TRANSPORT, RAIL SYSTEM) HEAVY EQUIPMENT OPERATOR CERTIFICATE
Course Objective and Scope
The Overhead Bridge Crane, including types such as Traveling Bridge Cranes and Gantry Cranes, is a rail-mounted piece of heavy equipment primarily used for vertically and horizontally transporting, lifting, and stacking large and heavy loads in indoor areas like factories, workshops, and warehouses. Operators are legally required to possess a "Heavy Equipment Operator Certificate" (G Class) approved by the Ministry of National Education (MEB).
Training Content
The training program offered in our course aims to develop competencies in operator candidates in the following subjects:
-
Occupational Health and Safety (OHS): Fundamental safety procedures and risk analysis to be adhered to during crane operation.
-
Crane Components: Introduction to the mechanical and electrical components of overhead cranes (bridge, gantry, trolley, hoisting group).
-
Safe Lifting and Handling: Determining the center of gravity of loads, safe load rigging, and slinging techniques.
-
Basic Operation Techniques: Accurate and precise use of crane movements (hoisting, lowering, bridge travel, trolley travel) via pendant or cab control.
-
Inspection and Maintenance: Daily pre-operation and post-operation checks and basic fault detection.
Certification Process and Legal Validity
Following the theoretical and practical training (typically 48 hours), candidates participate in centrally administered theoretical and practical examinations overseen by the MEB. Successful candidates are entitled to receive the "Heavy Equipment Operating Authorization Certificate" (G Class). This certificate is of high importance for employers to demonstrate their personnel's competence during legal inspections. This certification is generally sufficient for use only in enclosed and private sites and does not grant authority to operate the equipment on public roads.
